Stanford Band Not Allowed At The Orange Bowl

The Stanford band has a history of doing some crazy tricks, usually going with a theme of a particular momemt. Like the white van with bloody handprints during the O.J. Simpson ordeal. Or how about the "Hearst Burger" incident. Or poking fun at the UCLA football team over the handicapped parking scandal when the band formed a handicapped symbol on the field and wheeled the Stanford Tree out in a wheelchair. Hell, they've been banned form the entire state of Oregon. They're also famous for being on the field on the wackiest kickoff return in college football history.

They're now banned from performing at the Orange Bowl. Speculation is that bowl administrators don't want the band to ridicule LeBron James. I say let them perform and have some fun. I would love to see what stunt they would pull tonight.

The band of cowards. How about a spoof on Tiger Woods. But they won't or he'll cut off contributions to his alma mater and I'm sure they school has told them 'hands off' their little prince. Imagine all the material they are wasting because they don't want to hurt dude's feelings. How about a spoof on obama or their goofy new state governor. Those christmas trees chickens speak volume of their selectivity an dhold sacred cows dearly. I'm not protecting LeBron, just calling this band out.

In the past Stanford band has been an embarrassment to the University and the people of the State of California. The program should be eliminated from the university!!!

Turns out this wasn't true, SF Chronicle misrepresented the story: http://cosbysweaters.com/2011/01/04/media-fail-stanford-band-not-actually-banned-at-orange-bowl/

I read the same thing. Sometimes respected journalistic sources need to clarify their stories.
