Mike Tyson makes up with Teddy Atlas

Mike Tyson has come a long way. From being the youngest heavyweight champion to living recklessly to trying to make things right in his life.

Tyson, who says he's trying to recover from being a "vicious alcoholic", has made peace with his former trainer Teddy Atlas.

"Life is short; I made amends with everybody," Tyson told ESPN's Todd Grisham on 'Friday Night Fights' at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, N.Y.

"I'm recovering and I'm gonna die. If I don't follow my steps, I'm useless."

Tyson was making his debut as a fight promoter.

Atlas and Tyson buried the hatchet after a long simmering feud. Atlas and Tyson had a falling out following an incident in which Atlas has said Tyson approached a young girl, who was a relative of Atlas' wife, in a crude manner. In his biography, Atlas recalled borrowing a .38 from a friend, tracking down Tyson one night in 1982, telling him to smarten up and firing the gun, deliberately missing.

"Mike has always been looking for an escape, a trap door," Atlas said of Tyson in 2003. "He always lacked one essential ingredient in [situations of] building character: the ability to confront himself."

Tyson admitted to "being wrong" and said that Atlas was important to him back then. That was before he got involved with Don King and other shady characters.

"I have a lot of pain, and I just want to heal it, and that was part of it, right there."

"He behaved like a man, what can I say," Atlas recollected to fellow analyst Joe Tessitore. "He came over, extended his hand and asked me if I'd shake it and said, 'You're not still mad at me, are you? I wish you wouldn't be.' ... I give him credit for showing a gentleman's side."

Tyson's no angel but you have to give him some credit for calling himself out when he reflects on his life.

Mike Tyson says T.O. deserves no sympathy

Terrell Owens has had a rough few weeks capped off by being released from the Indoor Football League's Allen Wranglers with a mere $50 severance pay. And he's not getting any sympathy from Mike Tyson.

Tyson touched on Owens' situation during an interview with Mike Missanelli on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia.

When asked about Owens' financial woes and his appearance on Dr. Phil, Tyson pulled no punches, no pun intended.

On T.O.'s recent appearance on Dr. Phil and T.O.'s financial woes:

"Well, listen, I can only say about myself. It took a good 18, 20 years for me to go broke, but he got broke pretty quick. It happened quick! We saw him, heard about him signing this contract, but from what you told me, he busted his whole bill. That can happen man when you take liberties for granted."

If he thinks the upbringing he and T.O. experienced played a role in the kind of quick rise and fall:

"Oh, man, he's not even in my same league as far as getting blood sucked. He's not even in my league. But we're talking about this issue, so, yeah, they're out there. But in order to get your blood sucked, you have to be in position to want to suck some blood too. Even the con cons the con because he wants to con somebody."

If he thinks people should feel sorry for T.O. for his fall from grace:

"No, we should have no sympathy for him, he's a grown man. We should be jealous and pissed off he has so much goddamned fun. Shoot! That's what we should be jealous about. Listen, this is one thing. When you're living that life you think you're a big boy -- and this is one thing I learned when I was rolling like a big boy -- I said 'don't worry about it, I can handle it, I'm a big boy.' Big boys have big responsibilities and big circumstances."

If he thinks T.O. made a mistake by making an appearance like that where he had to have known he'd face criticism:

"I don't know, I don't know why he would want to do that because that's just a bomb waiting to explode right there. But I don't know. He did the right thing he believed for the circumstances. All I know is he did what he thought was best for him, and I know he's not feeling good about himself right now, but you get over it and life goes on."

Does he know Owens?

"I don't know him. I know he can't be broke because he's a bad guy. He's broke because he didn't know what was going on."

Owens won't get any from me because he was a bad teammate, had scores of money and didn't pay attention to who was ripping him off until it was too late. That's on him and the sooner he looks in the mirror the better off he will be.

Mike Tyson has thoughts on Mayweather and Pacquiao

Now days it seems that everyone has a take on the stalemate between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
Everyone wants to know what's the hold up that's holding up the biggest fight yet to be made.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson put in his two cents about Mayweather and Pacquiao and came up with a pretty extreme solution to their problem.

"I would throw them in jail if they didn’t fight. I’d have them arrested," Tyson said. "You can’t do that but that’s what I would try to do. These guys need to get locked up and find a new profession until they get their heads clear."

I think that's a bit much, but at this pace in negotiations that might be what it takes to finally get these two into the ring.

Tyson lands in jail after altercation.

Mike Tyson's scuffle with a photographer has landed him in jail.Tyson was going through the Los Angeles International airport with his family and others after arriving from London. Reports say that Tyson and the photographer,Tony Echeverria were both arrested for suspicion of battery. Echeverria acting on a tip that Tyson was to arrive, followed him in the airport and reportedly struck Tyson to try to provoke him when he was asked to stop. Tyson then punched Echeverria in the face. Tyson says he was just trying to protect his family. People need to leave Mike alone and let him live in peace,he seems a lot better that way.
