Vikings' Jared Allen Disappointed With Incoming Rookies

To sum up the Minnesota Vikings' Jared Allen, all he wants to do is play football. He wants a fair shake, but he just wants to play. He's not about the money or fancy things that go with it.

That's why he's disappointed with the NFL incoming rookies spending money they haven't earned yet. I myself don't understand that one myself. I know there are going to be some future earnings involved, but with this economy and the current lockout they should be thinking of ways to save money instead of blowing it right away.

In an interview with KTAR in Phoenix, Allen lets the listeners know how he feels about it. He also clues in on other things like the lockout and players that were drafted ahead of him.

“I don’t like anybody who was drafted ahead of me. Kind of pisses me off. You know it did. I honestly think it would’ve been cool to see none or all of the players elect to not show up. I think that would’ve given a really big sign to the NFL. You want us to appease you guys by coming to this show, because that’s what the NFL Draft is on TV, it’s a show for their fans and a show for the league, you want us to do that than let’s get this deal done, let’s quit locking us out, and let’s get back to work. I think the bigger disappointment was to see the jewelry on these kids’ arms and ears. Are you kidding me? You haven’t played a down in the league yet and thousands and thousands of dollars on these kids arms and I’m like you guys understand you’re getting drafted into a lockout where you don’t know what rules you’re playing under or how much money you possibly might get.”

I have to agree with Allen. I know the agents are fronting you with money and you want to look good on draft night, but they know the situation, keep that money. Buy a nice suit or whatever but stop with some of the unnecessary expenses.

A Full Moon

Saturday night Evander Holyfield will be taking on Danish heavyweight Brian Nielsen in Germany. The same night Manny Pacquiao will be taking on Shane Mosley. Guess which fight most will be watching.

There's nothing good coming out of that fight between the two aging fighters that probably shouldn't be setting foot in any kind of ring. What I call a stunt to try to sell the fight Nielsen thought it would be a good idea to 'moon' the audience at the weigh-in. I guess any interest in this fight is good since no one really cares about it. You know the question, "If a tree falls in a forest?"

That's probably the last we'll hear anything about this fight.

Luke Scott Still Challenging President Obama's Authenticity

Since President Barack Obama ran for office many have questioned his place of birth. I'm not going to go into my personal thoughts about this topic, except that no one has ever had their authenticity questioned more than President Obama.

Luke Scott of the Baltimore Orioles still think that the President of the United States is a phony. In an article by Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star, Scott voices his opinion on the recent turn of events where  President Obama's birth certificate was produced.

“(President Obama’s) birth certificate has yet to be validated,” he is saying.

“If they can counterfeit $100 bills, I think it’s a million times easier to counterfeit a birth certificate, if you ask me,” Scott says. “So, all it is, let’s just see if it’s real. Anybody can produce a document, so let’s check it out.”

This is a story I would like to see die.

Aroldis Chapman In Cinco de Mayo Commercial. He's Not Mexican

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman was involved in a Pepto-Bismol commercial recognizing Mexican holiday, Cinco de Mayo.

There was only one small problem. Chapman is Cuban, not Mexican. I don't mean to nitpick but shouldn't the makers of the product (Proctor and Gamble) get their facts straight.

Not a bad commercial though.

Lions May Pursue Nnamdi Asomugha

ProFootballWeekly.com cites various of reports saying that the Lions will go hard after free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

Here is an excerpt from that article…

Some reports say the Lions will go hard after free-agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha to fill the need for a starter opposite Chris Houston, but the team naturally will have lots of competitors for his services and might not be able to match the financial package Asomugha could be seeking.

This all comes after the Lions failed to address some pretty considerable needs in the secondary during this years draft. In the second round the Lions opted to go offense drafting Boise State WR Titus Young and Illinois RB Mikel LeShoure.

Now there are two potential huge hurdles that could prevent the Lions from signing Asomugha. First Asomugha will demand a huge contract on the open market. So big that it may be out of the Lions’ price range or prevent them from addressing other needs on their roster. The excerpt in a way touched on this. Second is there is no guarantee that we will have free agency going into next season. Lions fans need to keep in mind the NFL lockout and ongoing CBA negotiations that could end up changing the landscape of the entire NFL in terms of trades, contracts and free agency. It is because of that reason alone that it was important the Lions do everything they could to take care of their needs via the draft which they obviously didn’t do.

Absolutely Heartless

This story is just out and out horrible. Except for the part about the police catching the person behind the crime.

Pittsburgh police arrested a 17 year old boy for robbing an usher after an extra innings Pirates game. Whe you read that part you figure it's your normal everyday robbery. But the victim in the crime was robbed after he pulled his car over while suffering a heart attack.

Police aren't identifying the suspect because of his age. They said Tuesday he approached the car and pulled out 58-year-old driver Michael Schacht, who had been slumped over and in distress. They say he stole the man's wallet and drove off in his car, leaving him on the ground.

That's just foul, no pun intended. The suspect doesn't qualify to be charged as an adult, but he deserves whatever punishment is doled out to him.

Gonzaga's Goodson Leaving To Pursue Football

Gonzaga's Demetri Goodson is the latest to trade in his high tops for football cleats. A few weeks ago Tennesee's Melvin Goins was trying to make the transition to the gridiron, now Goodson is doing the same. Goodson informed coach Mark Few of his decision on Tuesday. He also could have two years of football eligibility left.

“I have decided to pursue football next year,” said Goodson, who would have been a senior on next year’s Bulldog basketball team. “I would like to thank my coaches and staff for the opportunity to play here. I also want to thank the city of Spokane and all of the Zags fans who have supported me over the years. It’s been an awesome experience.”

A report on KREM.com  says the signs point to him joining Texas A&M, where his brother Mike starred and is now a current Carolina Panther. Demetri last played in his sophomore year in high school.
